HONEY AT THE TOP is a film about the Sengwer forest people of the Cherangani Hills, Kenya, being evicted from their ancestral land in the name of conservation. Facing international pressure from organisations like the World Bank, a corrupt Kenya Forest Service who are burning their houses, and attempts to turn the forest into a commodity through carbon offsetting schemes, the Sengwer fight to hold onto their culture and resist the evictions. SIGN THE PETITION
This film captures the Sengwer predicament in relation to the World Bank project that ended in 2013. Now the European Union is in the process of seeking to implement a very similar $38 million project which, in its current form, is in danger of reinforcing the Kenya Forest Service's (KFS) capacity to evict the Sengwer from their ancestral forests. Sign our Change.org petition at the top of the page.
50% of all donations will be used to support the Sengwer Community that are campaigning and resisting the evictions taking place in Embobut Forest. The other half will be used to promote the film and help us to make more films that matter in the future. You can donate quickly and easily via paypal below.
